GreenStar GreenStar assessment – Building E
The Melbourne Airport Corporate Centre (Building E) is a green building project designed and constructed to represent four stars (Best Practice).

Sustainable Development Consultants have provided advice and support to the project team, and as Accredited Green Star professionals, have co-ordinated the preparation of a submission to the Green Building Council of Australia.

We have also completed extensive energy, thermal and daylight modeling.

VicUrban VicUrban
VicUrban created a Sustainable Community Rating Tool (SCRT) and required expert advice regarding information that could be used to improve the tools for a greater outcome. SDC provided a review of the tool and subsequently provided information to enhance the quality of the SCRT. Many VicUrban projects have since been rated using th SCRT by SDC to assess the project’s overall performance against the sustainability criteria set out in the tool.

SDC provided Carbon Minimisation advice for the Dandenong Creek Residential project.

SDC played a key role in developing the ESD principles and guidelines for the Revitalising Dandenong project.

Izett St Sustainability Management Plan – Izett Street, Prahran
In order to gain council approval, a growing number of developments are now required to submit a Sustainability Management Plan outlining the response taken by the development to the guidelines of the particular council.

More councils now use the STEPS (Sustainable Tools for Environmental Performance Strategy) and SDS (Sustainable Design Scorecard) to provide a benchmark for environmental credentials.

At SDC we are capable of providing these and other assessments for a range of residential, multi-unit and commercial developments.

Leicester St Sustainability Management Plan & Green Star - 100 Leicester St
Blue Earth Property’s headquarters at 100 Leicester Street, Carlton was the subject of an Ecologically Sustainable Design report, and a Green Star Assessment.

These helped to identify a range of significant ESD initiatives such as natural daylighting, increased opportunities for energy and water efficiency, and the selection of materials that will provide an increase in occupant comfort and health.

Furntech Furntech
This project involves consulting with industry to develop an environmental standard for commercial furniture. The standard is being developed for companies seeking to meet the needs of predominantly government and corporate clients who want a guarantee of the environmental sustainability of their office furniture.

Our objective in developing the standard is to ensure accredited furniture meets achievable targets in relation to matters such as materials sourcing, embodied energy, design for disassembly and indoor environmental quality. The standard will promote a significant improvement in the sustainability performance of Australian furniture manufacturers.

Scotch Scotch College Water Strategy
We have developed a comprehensive water strategy for the College. This involved a thorough review of the school’s water use, identification of water efficiency initiatives, and alternative water sources and cost benefit assessment of the various options. This has resulted in a comprehensive, integrated, staged water strategy that will mesh with the College’s capital works and budgetary processes.

The strategy will, upon implementation, save Scotch College millions of litres of water each year.

Furntech Royal Automotive Club of Victoria
The RACV Country Club, Healesville, is a major undertaking that incorporates a wide range of sustainability objectives across the breadth of the project. A number of ESD initiatives have been incorporated into the project. Of particular note is the incorporation of a geo-exchange system between the heating and cooling system and the feature reservoir.

This system draws upon the thermal energy of the reservoir to offset the external energy required to heat and cool the building. Our role has been to work with a broader project team to ensure that identified initiatives are followed through

Boneo Boneo Park
Boneo Park is a proposed equestrian facility and horse stud currently being developed on the Mornington Penninsula. Our involvement has identified many sustainable development opportunities, obtained planning approval and addressed environmental management considerations.

The development includes major conservation initiatives that benefit the Toogarook Wetlands and Moonah Woodlands, which are home to various rare and endangered species.

Villawood Villawood Properties Green Guide
We have worked with Villawood properties to develop a corporate green guide that promotes a range of sustainable development initiatives. These were assessed to ensure that they would provide worthwhile environmental benefits at a reasonable cost.

These are aimed towards purchases of land from Villawood’s developments, and we have incorporated a generous rebate scheme to provide future residents with additional incentive to adopt sustainable products and approaches in their home.
